Participate in America Recycles Day (November 15) by bringing recyclable items to our expo, to reduce what goes to the landfill. With the help of our community partners, we will take even hard-to-recycle items. Gone-for-Good Shred will be onsite providing paper shredding. Habitat for Humanity ReStore will be accepting new or good condition used furniture, appliances, and building materials (to see a full list of acceptable items click here).
Our Solid Waste team will be collecting tires for recycling at Jolly Pond and glass for recycling at O-I Glass. We will be collecting plastic packaging, such as grocery bags and film for our community challenge with Trex. We will also be hosting a shoe drive for Soles4Souls, a non-profit which distributes shoes during disaster relief and to homeless kids in the U.S. and around the world. They also empower people in developing countries to launch and sustain their own small businesses by selling donated shoes.
The Clean County Commission hosts the Annual Litter & Recycling Expo on the third Saturday of November at Warhill High School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join us for this free annual outreach event. Contact the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator for details and volunteer opportunities.
