James City County Parks
James City County is home to 15 magnificent parks, offering a wide range of activities and amenities for people of all ages. From camping to basketball to swinging on a jungle gym, there is more than 1,500 acres to enjoy and explore. James City County’s Parks & Recreation Department also offers a large selection of fun and educational sports and activities.
Other regional parks include: York River State Park, First Landing State Park, False Cape State Park, the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, and Plum Tree Island National Wildlife Refuge.
York and James Rivers
Boating and water sports enthusiast have access to a number of public and private marinas, boat launch facilities, and beaches on both the James and York Rivers. The Chesapeake Bay, Intercoastal Canal, and Atlantic Ocean are easily accessible by car or boat. Anglers can enjoy some of the finest fishing in the East.
